Chief Operating Officer
John Ungar, the Chief Operating Officer for the Ogontz Avenue Revitalization Corporation, is a licensed attorney with over 14 years of community economic development experience. He is a graduate of Cornell University and Boston University School of Law. John has been promoting sustainable practices and development for several years through his economic development work in Northwest Philadelphia.
John began his career as a commercial litigator. Following that, he entered the community development field, serving as OARC’s Director of Housing and Economic Development. Since then, he served as the Deputy Director for the People’s Emergency Center CDC, and Executive Director of both the Inter-Community Development Corporation and the Mt. Airy Revitalization Corporation. John’s current responsibilities at OARC include overseeing the daily operations and ensuring the efficient completion of all projects.
Over the course of his career, he has been responsible for a wide variety of initiatives including: helping to establish the West Oak Lane Charter School, vacant housing rehabilitation programs, home repair programs, commercial real estate development, sustainable development projects, business recruitment and major streetscape capital improvement projects.
